I wanna marry you, isnt that what you want too?

So Ive had a whole bunch of people I know get married, and it looks like all the girls have changed their last names. Im a little surprised by this, since my mom has not changed her last name, and Im not sure I will either. We're 8 years into the new millenium! So I want everyone to weigh in and tell me what they think in the comments.

There are too many factors involved for me to make an assured statement of any sort. The most important being that, at this time, I don't really see myself ever getting married.

However, for the sake of argument, my choice would be dependent on:
-whether his last name sucked
-whether his last name sounded stupid with my name
-how much he cared if I changed my name or not.

I probably wouldn't change my name. But also, as a teacher of some 160 students/year, I know it's a pain in the ass trying to remember what everyone's name is, and who belongs to which kid. Some kids have names that don't match EITHER of their parent's (go figure) and some of those are even hyphenated. Blah.

I almost certainly won't change my name.

I would definately change my last name for my husband; however, my opinion is biased because my father died when I was 15 and if he was still alive I would feel much more strongly about keeping my last name.

I think the last name change gives the couple the feeling of starting the family together it not like joining his family and leaving your own which some people feel. Its like restarting your life with this man and having all new experiences together. True you do not need the last name change for this but it does give that feeling.
